"You don't take a photograph, you make it." ~ Ansel Adams
"You don't take a photograph, you make it." So true, and also part of what makes photography so appealing to me. All my life, I've enjoyed making things, whether they were to wear, to eat, to hang on the wall... Photography allows me not only the opportunity to create the pictures themselves, but also the props, the sets, and the overall feel of the image. And as much as I love the photography itself, I love having the opportunity to get to know my clients and working with them, communicating prior to our session and collaborating on a plan that will allow us to create images they will love.
Although I enjoy many different types of photography and am always open to trying something new, there are some areas toward which I tend to gravitate:
Newborns. I absolutely adore photographing newborns. How fortunate am I to have a few hours to cuddle and admire these precious little miracles? Rest assured that if you bring your baby to me for portraits, I will treat them with love and the utmost care.
Children. I love children and always have! My husband and I have two wonderful boys ourselves who are growing up to be fine young men. Be warned, I will probably spend as much time playing with your little one as I do photographing him or her, giving them plenty of time to warm up and be themselves in front of the camera .
School Portraits. Shorter Shots is working hard to change the face of school portraiture. Put the children in a more natural environment, talk and play with them a little and they transform before your eyes. Not only are the photographs better, we all have fun!
Seniors. It’s not about bright lights and crazy poses and creating an image that is not real. It’s about showing people who you really are, at your best. What’s your style? What’s your passion? Who are you? Let’s work together and figure out how to show them!
Headshots. In this social media filled world we live in, everybody needs a good updated headshot. Let me help bring you up to the times with a portrait that makes you feel good.
Product photography. When you are working hard to give your customers the very best, you want it portrayed in the best possible way and I will strive to do that for you.
Portrait sessions can be held on location outside, or here in my home-based studio in Munroe Falls, OH. You will find it to be a relatively relaxed process where you and I will take the time to work together to accomplish our goal. Within a week or so after our session, you will have an online gallery of your best images and the opportunity to purchase your favorites as prints, canvases, albums, etc...

"Working with Shorter Shots has been amazing. We have our newborn babies photographed and keep returning at least once a year as they grow. She is always so patient with the kids and is very creative. Marcie has captured such wonderful moments in time with my children that I will cherish forever." ~ Jacque
"The Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library has been using Shorter Shots for years to capture photos of our patrons and employees for our marketing materials. The quality of her work is outstanding, and working with her is easy, fun, and drama-free!" ~ Ann L. Malthaner, Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library
"We are so grateful for all Marcie has done for our family. We first met for our daughters newborn session and while our daughter wouldn't sleep and was quite fussy that didn't discourage Marcie in the least. She was so patient and reassuring and our daughters photos came out beautiful. Marcie goes above and beyond and is so much fun to work with in coming up with unique backdrops and prop staging. She has a great eye and has a way of turning every picture into a piece of art. We will forever be clients and can not wait for our next session!" ~ Stephanie and Lang
“The only photographer CSS ever wants to work with again.” ~ Kevin von Keyserling, President and CEO, Certified Security Solutions
"No one captures the beauty of children better than the artistic eye of the photographer behind the lens at Shorter Shots-Marcie Shorter. Over the last four years I've watched her come into our school and produce the most amazing photos capturing the beauty of each child. Her work has transformed our hallways with unique reflections of children that inspire us all. Everyday I get to witness how people respond to her work. Her talent and creativity speak volumes in each photo. She creates a living documentation for us to treasure. Our staff and families think of her first when we celebrate new beginnings or milestones that we want to remember through her beautiful photography." ~ Teresa Graves, Principal SCOPE Academy
"If you are looking for a photographer that really captures the personality of you child, Marcie Shorter is that photographer. When we met Marcie, she took hours to get to know both of my daughters for their senior portraits. She took the time to get to know them as a person and brought that out in the photos she took. My daughters have completely different personalities and activities. Many photographers will do this but what sets Marcie apart is her creative ability to think outside the box to create one of a kind photos. I LOVE that all the photos for seniors are taken outdoors. The natural light cannot be duplicated in a studio. Marcie took the time to create an urban, theatrical setting for my daughter who is a ballet dancer, and even took it one step further to make a whimsical ballet setting in a park setting. My daughter who is a swimmer obviously loves the water. Marcie created a beach front setting even including a beach and a light house! She as well created one of a kind pictures at a pool that captured her love and dedication to the sport of swimming. Marcie isn't just taking pictures for her career, she creates one of a kind beautiful still images of the life of your child and the loves of your child." ~ Kristan
